Horsham says bonjour to Frenchfest

6th September 2007

HORSHAM town centre is going French on Friday 14 and Saturday 15 September to celebrate the return of the ever popular FrenchFest market and French themed activities.

Horsham District Council has invited local schools and all other students of the French language to come along and try out their skills and traders will be handing out special ‘Je parle Francais’ stickers to any visitor who uses French.

As well as produce stalls selling fresh French breads, pastries, cheeses, dry sausages and Parma ham, confectionery, coffee, leather goods and other authentic goods,  there will be French themed entertainment, competitions and local shops have been invited to join in with special offers.

Friday lunchtime sees Le Hot Club Jazz Trio performing in the Carfax from 11.30am to 2.30pm, and Saturday visitors will be entertained by comedy Frenchman - Le Monsieur Maverick, Fifi La Mer and musical acts playing the Bandstand with a French theme.

Apart from the usual festivities, visitors to the Life is for Living event for the over 50s on 13 September at Broadbridge Heath Leisure Centre near Horsham will get a French market preview, and Horsham Museum is organising a French Trail that will encourage people to discover the town’s strong historical French connections.
