A hard day’s work….and it’s still only 0730am!
3rd October 2007
CALORIES were being burnt at a remarkable rate of knots by a number of Horsham District Council staff early this morning (Wednesday 3 October).
Horsham District Council’s refuse and recycling crews were out and about from early morning doing what they do almost every day of the year – collecting refuse and recycling from around 55,000 homes in the 205 square miles of the Horsham District.
Today, one of these rounds, number 302, was joined by the Council’s Chief Executive Tom Crowley.
The 302 round starts early every Wednesday morning and collects refuse from1650 homes in the New Street and Station Road areas of Horsham.
The usual team is made up of staff HGV driver, loader and charge hand Malcolm Merritt and refuse loaders Paul Stacey and Kevin Attree but today they had an extra pair of hands.
When things go smoothly the round is usually complete by mid-afternoon every Wednesday
Speaking of the experience, Tom Crowley, Chief Executive of the Council, said:
“I really do take my hat off to the colleagues I joined on the round and all refuse and recycling collectors.
“It’s a very physical job and I’d like to thank all of these staff for the magnificent job they do throughout the year.”
