In court for criminal damage

A MAN has been in court for causing criminal damage to temporary accommodation in Horsham.
Kevin Pell, aged 18 and registered as homeless, appeared at Crawley Magistrates Court on 26 October and pleaded guilty to causing damage to a flat in Horsham where he was previously a tenant. The flat is owned by Horsham District Council.
The court awarded compensation of £1,213 to Horsham District Council and Mr Pell was also fined £150 plus court costs of £60
Speaking after the court case, Cllr Andrew Baldwin, Cabinet Member for Housing and Community Support at Horsham District Council, said:
“It is very sad that someone has trashed the accommodation we have provided in trying to help them.
“This case shows that whilst we do everything we can to help people in housing need we will not hesitate to take proceedings to prosecute those who cause damage to the accommodation provided.”
