Break dance craze hits Horsham

12th November 2007

YOUNG people in Horsham are counting down the weeks until a break dance competition starts in the town.

Over the past five weeks around 15 young people of Horsham have been learning how to break dance in a 10 week course organised by Horsham District Council and delivered by renowned ‘BBoy’ and music producer Ed Funk.

The group, which varies in age from 11 to 18 year olds, practise at Horsham Town Hall every Tuesday and is learning a selection of intricate and challenging moves from the world of break dance.

Speaking about the course, teacher Ed Funk said:

“Although only half way through the course, the group is doing amazingly well.”

Learning moves such as windmills, freezes, hollow backs and inverts, the overall focus is how each participant can interpret the moves and transform them into their own unique and individual style.

With only five weeks left participants will continue their training, until all that remains is for the ‘BBoys’ and ‘BGirls’ to take to the floor and battle it out to see who can pull off the craziest moves!
