Senior Persons’ Council welcomes feedback

15 January 2008

HORSHAM District residents of 50 and over are being encouraged to contribute to the Senior Persons’ Council.

A new programme of meetings for 2008 has been planned for the Senior Persons’ Council and any qualifying residents who wish to contribute are being encouraged to attend.

The Senior Persons’ Council was established three years ago with the aim of giving older people an opportunity to put forward their ideas to Horsham District Council and to undertake their own initiatives to benefit the local community.

It provides a mechanism for consultation but also empowers its members to identify issues of concern and take action to address them.

The group has taken action on a number of these issues, such as Shopmobility, Hospital transport services, Horsham District Council’s Housing Strategy and more.

The Senior Persons’ Council also met with the Youth Council to discuss its idea of ‘community’ and how older and younger people could work together in the future.

Meeting dates and venues

All meetings start at 12 noon and are scheduled to finish by 2.30 pm.

  • Monday 10 March 2008 Billingshurst Village Hall, Roman Way, Billingshurst
  • Monday 9 June 2008 Sullington Parish Hall, Thakeham Road, Sullington
  • Monday 8 September 2008 Steyning Centre, Fletchers Croft, Steyning
  • Monday 8 December 2008 Beeson House, Lintot Square, Southwater

Any resident of the Horsham District aged over 50 is welcome to attend a meeting.
