Telling Tales

5 February 2008

BUDDING local novelists can now fulfil their dreams of bringing their stories to life.

Workshops with professional tutors in fiction, autobiography and poetry are taking place in the Horsham District in February and March offering support and advice on technique.

Over the two days of each workshop, novice local authors who simply have a passion for writing and want to learn more, or have a specific interest in any of the disciplines, will have a chance to experiment and take risks within a supportive and creative environment.

Speaking of the opportunity, Horsham District Council’s Arts Development Officer Luna Russell said:

“Everyone has a story inside them – I know I do!

“The aim of this course is to encourage anyone with an interest in writing to take the first step towards writing the book or poetry that we all promise ourselves we will do one day.”

The courses are run as follows:

Autobiography –24 February and 2 March 2008 at Horsham Library – cost £60 (£25 Leisure Access Card)
Fiction – 9 and 16 March 2008 at Steyning Library – cost £60 (£25 Leisure Access Card)
Poetry – 30 March and 6 April 2008 at Pulborough Library – cost £60 (£25 Leisure Access Card)

Participants will need to bring a packed lunch, paper and pens, as well as their imaginations.

All workshops take place on Sundays 11am – 5pm and are open to anyone over 16. Places must be booked in advance by calling The Capitol Box Office on 01403 750220.
