District’s health walks are accredited
12 February 2008
A HEALTH Walks scheme run by Horsham District Council has been accredited by the Walking the way to Health Initiative.
Accreditation to the scheme means that the Council’s health walks are recognised and approved by health professionals, set and maintain high standards and give users confidence that the walks are of good quality.
Jill Shuker, Health Walks co-ordinator at Horsham District Council, said:
“I am delighted that our Health Walks scheme has been accredited.
“This means that we can be part of a bigger scheme which is constantly being evaluated and improved, another excellent reason to get walking!”
Cllr Brian Donnelly, Cabinet Member for Leisure and Health at Horsham District Council, added:
“This accreditation just shows that good quality opportunities to improve health don’t have to be expensive.
“Walking is enjoyable, good for you and free, and I’m really pleased that our scheme has been recognised nationally.”
