Microbiz Masterclass is a massive success

12 February 2008

OVER 40 exhibitors were entertained and trained in equal measure at the first ever Horsham Microbiz pre-event.

The event was designed to bring the exhibitors of the forthcoming Horsham Microbiz event together with the aim of meeting the Microbiz sponsors, and receiving some practical exhibition skills training.

On the evening, attendees were also entertained by Editor in Chief of the Sussex Newspaper Group, Gary Shipton who broke the ice by revealing some amusing headlines and anecdotes from his years in journalism. He then went on to share some powerful tips on how to communicate stories and news with the local media.

Horsham based Chartered Marketer, Dee Blick of the Marketing Gym Ltd followed with an action packed 45 minute Exhibition Skills Masterclass. A veteran of many exhibitions and now a trainer in this field, Dee showed the audience how they could target and attract visitors and how they could dress their exhibition stand for a real wow factor.

The event, which was organised by Horsham District Council, was held at the Capitol Theatre in Horsham.

Said Chris Baister, Business Development Manager at Horsham District Council:

"It is thanks to our Microbiz sponsors that we could run this outstandingly successful event.

“This year we have secured sponsorship from Business Link, ICG Print and Design, Nat West Business Banking and Business Matters newspaper alongside the support that we receive each year from Horsham District Council and West Sussex County Council.

“Sponsorship means that we can also keep the cost of exhibiting at Microbiz within the remit of any small business."

Horsham Microbiz promises to be even bigger and better this year with two renowned local entrepreneurs sharing their secrets of success.

Tim Breden, Operations Director of Ashington based business of the year Kate’s Cakes is opening up Microbiz before going on as a keynote speaker.

The second keynote speaker, Sarah Hatswell, Managing Director of Horsham based Sovereign Credit Management is a renowned speaker at both local and international events.

There are also 12 free information packed seminars, a business networking zone and, of course, over 40 exhibitors that have been hand selected because they offer products and services that are in demand by any small business, whether home-based or not.

Microbiz is also a treasure trove for anyone thinking of starting a business.
