Microbiz Visitors and Entrepreneurs are Lucky Winners!

8 April 2008

Entrepreneurs and lucky winners of the Horsham Microbiz free prize-draw gathered at The Capitol on Wednesday to collect their prizes.

The popular Microbiz event, which took place at Horsham’s Drill Hall on 15 March, saw well over a hundred visitors complete feedback forms enabling event organisers to improve and shape future events. Visitors who completed a form were entered into a free prize-draw with the chance of winning one of five fantastic prizes, donated by Rookwood Golf Course, The Pavilions In The Park and Emma Jones - Author of the stylish new book ‘Spare Room Start Up’.

Three of the five lucky winners met at The Capitol where they were presented with their prizes by representatives from Rookwood Golf Course and The Pavilions In The Park.

Phil Needham of ‘H N Artwork’ was the first drawn entry and won a round of golf for four at Rookwood.  Eve Vine of ‘Gardening of Eden’ won three personal training vouchers from The Pavilions In The Park.

When asked about her business Eve said:
“My container gardening business, now a year old is quite successful and I'm thoroughly enjoying it.

“I have a couple of new clients as a direct result of Microbiz and I am looking forward to a busy couple of months.”

Ross Phillips of ‘Forest Eyes Photography’ was lucky enough to win Emma Jones’ ‘Spare Room Start Up’ book, which focuses on specific issues that affect home business start-ups and is described as an essential book for anyone who wants to start a business from home and manage a work/life balance.
Ross said:
“I started in December and was previously an estate agent.

“I specialise in residential photography, but also do Fine Art and a bit of commercial work.

“I work for a well-known Estate Agent Country Homes Department, which takes me all over the county and I also do work for an independent firm of estate agents in Storrington.

“I have recently won a commission to photograph eleven car dealerships in Sussex and Surrey for their pending website upgrade.”

Other prize-winners were Jill Smith and Eleanor Wright, who won one month’s single membership and a 12 for 10 swim voucher respectively, for use at The Pavilions In The Park.

Aimed at small businesses and people thinking of starting a business, hundreds of people attended this year’s Microbiz event, which is now in its sixth year with no signs of slowing down.  The event provides a treasure trove of information, advice and inspiration for small business owners and people thinking of starting a business.

The date for Microbiz 2009 is soon to be announced and to keep small businesses going, some interim Business Masterclasses may be held throughout the year.
