HRH The Duke of Kent to open new Age Concern building in Horsham

HRH The Duke of Kent will be visiting three venues in West Sussex on Thursday 8 May.

During the afternoon he will formally open Lavinia House, the newly built Age Concern and Voluntary Sector building on the site of the old Territorial Army base in Denne Road, Horsham.

On arrival he will be greeted by the Lord-Lieutenant of West Sussex, Mr Hugh Wyatt, and inspect a Guard of Honour provided by members of the Air Training Corps and local Scout Group. After meeting leading members of Horsham District Council and the Horsham Branch of Age Concern, he will then tour the new building. One of the displays will be a commemoration of the 63rd Anniversary of VE Day, which also falls on 8th May.

The Duke will also meet representatives of those other local voluntary organisations operating from the new building, before going out into the newly laid garden to officially open Lavinia House.

Prior to his departure, The Duke of Kent will take the opportunity to have a cup of tea, while meeting staff and volunteers of Lavinia House and representatives of Horsham District Council.

The Duke of Kent will first be visiting SEOS of Burgess Hill, then travelling to Ardingly College, which celebrates the 150th anniversary of its founding this year.

There will be opportunities for press photography at the front of the building during arrival and departure and limited access to the garden for the unveiling of the plaque.
