Summer dance activities for young people

SUMMER will be busy for young dance enthusiasts across the Horsham District thanks to an action packed calendar of events organised by Horsham District Council.
Red Fish Activities, run by the Council, has set up a number of dance workshops across the Horsham District for young people aged between eight and 16.
Popular one day dance intensive Dance Mania finds a new venue at Billingshurst Village Hall and explores a variety of dance styles including Salsa, street dance, musical theatre and African dance as well as some fundamental elements of performing.
Sessions are 1-5pm Thursday May 29 for 8-11year olds, and Friday May 30 12-16 year olds. The cost is £15, or £7.50 for Leisure Access Card holders (LAC).
Learn fundamental breakdance skills, moves and tricks from a real life ‘BBoy’. ‘Ill Boogs’ from dance group ‘Sin Cru’ will lead two beginners breakdance workshops for young people at The Capitol Studio in Horsham on Thursday 7 August for children aged 8-11 years, and Friday 8 August for 12-16 years. Both sessions run from 1-3pm and cost £6 (£3 LAC).
A new Creative Dance two day workshop at Horsham’s Roffey Institute in Roffey, Horsham will explore dance through themes, stories and imaginative ideas and will put creative minds to the test to make a short dance piece. Workshops are on Thursday 14 and Friday 15 August; 10-12.30pm for ages 8 -11 years and 1-3pm for ages 12-16 years. The cost is £15 (£7.50 LAC).
A one day workshop ‘Musical Mania!’ is a chance for participants to enter the wonderful world of musicals. Learn dances from some of the world’s most famous musicals including Cats, Moulin Rouge, and Chicago. Sessions run on Thursday 28 August for
8-11 years and Friday 29 August 12-16 years 10-3pm at Roffey Institute, Roffey, Horsham. The cost £15 (£7.50 LAC).
