Councillor responsibilities

AN UPDATED list of Councillor responsibilities has been agreed at Horsham District Council.
The responsibilities, which are now in effect, are as follows:
Chairman and Vice Chairman of Horsham District Council for 2008/09:
Chairman of Horsham District Council – Cllr John Bailey
Vice Chairman of Horsham District Council – Cllr Keith Wilkins
Cabinet portfolios at Horsham District Council:
Leader – Cllr Liz Kitchen
Deputy Leader and Environment and Sustainability – Cllr Robert Nye
Finance and Assets – Cllr Gordon Lindsay
Housing and Community Support – Cllr Andrew Baldwin
Leisure and Health – Cllr Brian Donnelly
Local Economy – Cllr Roger Paterson
Organisational Development – Cllr Philip Circus
Strategic Planning – Cllr David Jenkins
Cllr John Cox’s resignation from the Cabinet has been tendered and accepted.
Speaking of her colleague’s resignation, Cllr Liz Kitchen, Leader of Horsham District Council, said:
“I would like to thank Cllr Cox for his dedicated work in the Cabinet over the past year, in particular his work on Organisational Development.
“In replacement, Cllr Circus’ analytical skills will be an asset in this role and I look forward to the next year’s developments.
"As we are part way through the review of car parking policies in Horsham Town Centre I have asked Philip Circus to see this through."
Committee Chairmen at Horsham District Council will be decided from the beginning of June at the first meeting of each committee.
It can also be confirmed that the Leader of the Liberal Democrats is Cllr Sally Horner.
