Horsham’s Shelley Fountain set for repair

7 January 2009

HORSHAM’S Shelley Fountain is set to be repaired this month.

On Thursday 8 January, the Council will start works on the Shelley Fountain to determine and rectify problems first encountered in late spring 2008.

Following the erection of protective fencing around the fountain, a steel lifting beam will be delivered to the site.

This structure will enable the main body of the fountain to be lifted and major electrical and hydraulic parts of the fountain to be removed for inspection and testing.

Assuming a satisfactory outcome of the inspection and testing, it is expected that the necessary repairs will take place from 19 January.

It is hoped that the fountain will be re-commissioned and fully operational once again by the end of the month.
