Horsham Microbiz 7 – A MUST for any small business or start up
2 March 2009
IF YOU are a small business owner, whether you operate from premises or from home, or you’re thinking about starting your own business, then there is an event on Saturday 14th March 2009 between 10am-4pm that you simply cannot afford to miss. It's the seventh Horsham Microbiz event.
Organised by Horsham District Council, Horsham Microbiz has built a well deserved reputation in the small business community as an essential business and networking resource - so much so that it has become a hotly anticipated annual event on the business calendar.
It is widely regarded by many local small business entrepreneurs and fledgling business owners as a small business treasure trove where in the comfort of the Drill Hall at Denne Parade in Horsham they can enjoy chatting informally to 44 hand selected exhibitors and even learn some valuable business tips.
Horsham Microbiz has also become renowned for its packed programme of business seminars, each delivered by an inspirational local entrepreneur or a respected professional. There are many opportunities for visitors and exhibitors alike to network in the café serving delicious food and drink all day.
And the best bit about Horsham Microbiz? Unlike many other business events, thanks to the generosity of sponsors it is free of charge.
This year’s record breaking line up of sponsors include: NatWest Bank, Business Link, Foundry Press Ltd, AGP Grafico, Eden HR Consulting Ltd., Infotrace, Dee Blick, Topcentre, West Sussex County Council, Spirit FM and The Resident.
Said Chris Baister, Business Development Manager at Horsham District Council, the leading local authority in the country for its work with small businesses and the event organisers:
“In 2002, we embarked on a major research project with home based businesses in the district to find out the business related services they wanted.
“The overwhelming feedback was that many were looking for more opportunities to network locally and they wanted access to professional advice on topics such as taxation, legislation and marketing - without always having to pay for it.
“Horsham Microbiz was one of the outcomes of this research.
“Seven years down the line, it is now aimed at all small businesses whether based at home or in premises and of course, people thinking of starting a business. In the current economic climate there has never been a better reason to attend.
“We have hand selected 45 local businesses to exhibit because they offer products and services that small business owners have a need for; from office supplies and bookkeeping to local advertising, low cost office space and business networking.

“This year we have an amazing prize draw to encourage visitors to complete their feedback forms.”
In the current economic climate there are many local people considering redundancy as an opportunity to enable them to start their own business.
If anyone is harbouring a desire to start their own business, then Horsham Microbiz can really help.
There are dozens of respected professionals all under one roof on 14 March, willing to share tips and give advice, either informally or as part of the seminar programme.
It’s such an enjoyable day out that many visitors pop into Microbiz with the intention of staying for no more than half an hour and they end up staying for the whole day, so comfortable shoes are a must!
