Gleaming new bus station opens
28th March 2003
A gleaming, state of the art glass building takes over as Horsham’s new bus station from Monday (31 March 2003).
The eye catching new facility in Worthing Road serves to encourage people to use bus travel throughout the district and beyond.
It is also the first completed phase of Horsham's Blackhorse Way redevelopment, apart from the extension to Sainsbury's which opened at the end of last year. The overall scheme is scheduled to be finished by late autumn this year.
The new bus station will provide the public with a modern facility, incorporating a pleasant covered waiting area, vending facilities and electronic information on bus services.
It will be open seven days a week from 6.30am until 10.00pm, with reduced opening times on Sundays.
Twenty different bus routes will run through the bus station, including Hop Oast park and Ride, with about 250 bus journeys likely to make use of it every weekday.
The bus companies serving the bus station will be Arriva Kent & Sussex, Compass Travel and Stagecoach Coastline.
Horsham Bus Station has been funded by Sainsbury's Supermarkets Ltd as part of the Blackhorse Way redevelopment project and is owned and managed by Horsham District Council. It cost approximately £750,000.
Further information about bus services is available from Traveline on 0870 608 2608.
