HOUSING STRATEGY

Everyone should have the opportunity of a decent home at a price they can afford in a place they want to live and work. Our Housing Strategy sets out how we will try and achieve this. The strategy covers private and public sector housing, rural settlements, small market towns and larger urban areas. It goes beyond building new homes and improving existing ones and, linking in with other key strategies and plans, deals with the wider role housing plays in increasing quality of life.

The Council’s current Housing Strategy was written in 2003 and runs out in 2008. We are writing a new strategy which sets out our priorities and objectives for housing from 2008-2013. We are sure that the best Housing Strategy is one that is informed by views of residents, businesses, partners and stakeholders so we invited you to have your say via our Housing Strategy Consultation Document Looking to 2013. This summarized what the Council believes are the key housing issues for Horsham and what can be done to tackle them in the next five years.

We gave residents and partners the opportunity to give their views and the outcome of all our consultation has led to the production of a Draft Housing Strategy. Please let us know what you think of the new draft strategy - you can telephone, email or write to us. The consultation period runs until 21 July 2008. The final Housing Strategy will be recommended to the Council for approval in September 2008.
