Disposing of Christmas cards:

Around 1.7 billion Christmas cards are sent each year in Britain, which is the equivalent of 200,000 trees! Look out for charity cards that are made from recycled paper or send e-cards via the internet instead. Don’t forget to recycle Christmas cards in your brown lidded green waste bins.

Disposing of Christmas trees:

Modern artificial Christmas trees are very realistic these days, extremely low maintenance (no need to water) and some even come with fairy lights attached.  Using it year on year will save you money in the long run too.

If buying a real tree, the advice is to choose a tree with roots that has been grown in the UK specifically for this purpose.  It can then be either re-planted in a garden or chopped up and placed in the brown lidded green waste bin for composting.
