PROFILE OF HORSHAM DISTRICT
The Horsham District is the second largest of 7 District and Borough Councils within West Sussex, comprising 205 square miles (530 square kilmeters). The District is made up of 23 picturesque rural market towns and villages and the tastefully developed historic market town of Horsham.
The area is largely rural and derives much of its economic success from its prime location midway between London and the coast and the close proximity to Gatwick airport with excellent transport links
- Less than 20 minutes from Gatwick International Airport
- Direct routes to London and to the south coast via M23, M25 and A24
- Ready access to the South Coast ferry ports
- Over 80 rail connections to London Victoria daily - fastest journey time around 51 minutes
The District has two designated areas of outstanding natural beauty, the South Downs and the High Weald and has a considerable architectural heritage. The Horsham District is more aligned with Crawley and Mid Sussex than the West Sussex coastal strip.
Shopping facilities are extensive especially in the redeveloped award winning town centre with a good mix of national and local shops, and convenient parking. A variety of interesting and unusual shops, restaurants and pubs can be found in the attractive towns and villages.
There is plenty to do and enjoy in the district: excellent cultural, sports and leisure facilities including the Capitol Arts Centre, excellent golf courses, municipal and private, the Pavilions in the Park leisure centre within the beautiful Horsham Park, and Southwater Country Park.
The Horsham District offers a good range of top quality business accommodation, and a high quality local workforce to put in it. Higher education and training facilities are plentiful, as are conference and corporate hospitality venues. Good quality housing, first-class schools, private and public, plentiful entertainment and leisure facilities and large areas of unspoilt rural landscape complete the picture.
Above all, it’s a place with a strong ‘feel good factor’. It’s aesthetically pleasing, clean and green, and has a positive, dynamic atmosphere with a progressive, go-ahead District Council committed to helping businesses make the most of what they have to offer.
