RACE EQUALITY SCHEME
Welcome to Horsham District Council’s first Race Equality Scheme, which has been developed in response to the Race Relations (Amendment) Act 2000.
The Council is committed to ensuring that services and employment opportunities are available to all sections of the community and therefore welcomes the systematic framework provided by this legislation, which enables it to continue to build on existing good practice.
Horsham District Council has an impressive track record of providing high quality, economic and efficient services. We intend to use this opportunity to embed race equality into the priorities and working practices of the Council to ensure that all its citizens are able to secure a better quality of life.
The production and implementation of our Race Equality Scheme will provide a number of benefits to the way we work. This includes better informed decision making, clearer targeting of services and policies, improved staff management and more appropriate and accessible services.
The Race Equality Scheme is a working document and will be reviewed on a regular basis to allow us to adapt to and meet the needs of changing circumstances and communities.
