WEB ACCESSIBILITY
BROWSEALOUD
As part of our on-going improvements and efforts to making our website 'Accessible to All', we are pleased to announce that our web site is speech-enabled with 'Free to download' software. This latest improvement will certainly help those with reading difficulties, literacy problems, mild vision difficulties and where English is not their first language can now use this and some websites more easily
This site can be speech enabled on demand using the free browsealoud software which is available for Windows PC's using Netscape or Internet Explorer browsers.
Click the browsealoud button below to reach the download site and follow the prompts to download and install the program. Download and installation of browsealoud will take around 10-15 minutes on a standard modem.
When browsealoud is installed you will see a blue concentric circles icon at the bottom right hand corner of your screen to tell you that browsealoud is loaded and ready on your computer.
When you roll your mouse over some text on the Disability Action website the words will be instantly turned into speech.
More information can be found at www.browsealoud.com/faq.asp (clicking on this link will open a new window)
PAGE MAGNIFIER
For the visually impaired, we have provided a magnifier to help make our site accessible. The Webpage magnifier has been specially developed with the partially sighted in mind; By downloading the ‘WorksView’ Browser plugin, partially sighted users can easily magnify any part of a web page. Magnification levels can be adjusted to suit the individual needs of the user. Clicking on the magnifer icon will automatically install the plugin only after the user agrees to the authentication certificate (similar to the image displayed below).
