Insulation is the single most efficient energy saving improvement that can be added to a home.
Discounts for Home Owners
There are lots of discount schemes for loft and cavity wall insulation for home owners (and some for privately renting tenants). Having the insulation installed by an approved company will cost in the region of £200 each (Summer 2008).
Home owners and tenants (who rent from a private landlord) who are over the age of 70 may be eligible to receive free loft and cavity wall insulation.

Warm Front Grants
If you are a home owner (or privately renting tenant) and in receipt of a means tested benefit and either you have children under the age of 16 (or you are pregnant) or you are over the age of 60, you may qualify for a Warm Front Grant.
The Warm Front Grant provides a package of insulation and heating improvements up to the value of £2,700 (or £4,000 if oil central heating is recommended). It is a Government-funded initiative and the scheme is managed by eaga.
