Watch schemes

What is a watch scheme?

Horsham District Safe and Well Partnership works with partners to create watch schemes to help prevent and fight crime in the community and in industrial areas.

We currently have three different active watch schemes: Pubwatch, Shopwatch and Neighbourhood Watch.

Members use a secure web-based system called SIRCS to record and share information about individuals suspected of or convicted of retail crime or offences within licensed premises, including those who threaten or are violent towards staff. SIRCS is a system used by Sussex Police but it doesn't replace the need to contact the police if an incident is taking place.

The benefits of joining a watch scheme are:

  • Proactive crime prevention
  • Secure web-based communication
  • Increased employee security
  • Sharing local intelligence
  • Protecting customers
