Shopmobility wheelchairs and scooters

Horsham Shopmobility have scooters and wheelchairs, powered and manual, available to anyone, young or old, who has problems walking around Horsham Town centre. It gives people greater independence and access to the shopping areas and leisure facilities. Users do not have to be registered disabled to use the service.

Currently Shopmobility has powered scooters (in medium, large and extra large size) and wheelchairs (powered and manual).

It is located at the Parking Information Centre in Swan Walk Multi-Storey Car Park, level 2.

Shopmobility is a free to use service. It is funded by Horsham District Council and donations by its users. A donation each time you the service is greatly appreciated and any money received is directly reinvested into the maintenance of the fleet.

To use the Shopmobility service, please call us on 01403 215057 or email parking@horsham.gov.uk to make an appointment for registration and training. Tests are usually conducted between 11am-midday and 2pm-3pm Monday to Friday.

Training and registration

To use the service we need to conduct a short training session which lasts approximately 15 minutes. This is so we can provide you with important safety information and ensure you are comfortable in using the appliance.

When attending this session, please bring a form of photo-ID. Upon completion of the session you will be asked to sign our Terms of Use and will be issued with a membership card containing your unique member number.

Book a Shopmobility scooter or wheelchair

Call 01403 215057 to book an appliance. If your call goes to answerphone, please leave a message containing your name, contact details and the date/time you require. We will only call back if we are unable to fulfill your request.

You can come and use an appliance between the following times:

  • 9am to 5pm Monday to Saturday
  • 10am to 4pm on Sunday and Bank Holiday's
  • closed on Christmas Day

When you are collecting an appliance, please present your membership card.

Parking for Shopmobility users

There is dedicated parking for Shopmobility users directly outside the Parking Information Centre. Normal parking charges apply, unless the user is in receipt of the Higher Rate of Mobility entitlement. If so, please present evidence upon arrival for registration.
