Get help to find a job
Journey to Work
Journey to Work is our employment support programme, supported by the Department for Work and Pensions. We connect local jobseekers with potential employers and offer mentoring support.
- We place jobseekers into a variety of work experience placements, lasting between two and eight weeks. We are partnered with over 40 organisations from business and the community, and also offer placements at the Council
- We provide one-to-one mentoring support for those who need additional help
Journey to Work is open to anyone claiming employment-related benefits, including Employment Support Allowance (ESA) and Universal Credit, who needs help to find paid work.

Our Journey to Work success
Since Journey to Work started in January 2012, we have seen over 700 CVs and placed nearly 500 jobseekers into work experience placements.
- Approximately 90% of participants in the project have found that the renewed confidence, proven employability skills, and up to date reference gained from their experience has led to them finding paid employment
- Journey to Work has helped reduce unemployment figures in Horsham District, particularly youth unemployment. Youth unemployment claimant numbers have dropped by three quarters over the past seven years
