Horsham District local retailers set to dress for success this Christmas

13 Nov 2018

In the run up to Christmas independent retailers across the Horsham District are set to benefit from a special promotion, supporting them in the art of creative window and in store displays.

The promotion, organised by Horsham District Council’s Economic Development team, forms part of an overall training and support programme - ‘Your Customer Experience’ - for independent retailers across the District, making visits to our high streets more enjoyable and rewarding for all.

Businesses wishing to take part in the Christmas display competition need to register.

All retail businesses taking part will then be issued with a window sticker to display.

The competition will be judged by specialist consultant Chris Billington from Progressive Results Training along with local media.

As part of a support package, Chris Billington has developed a short, top tips video featuring the work he has done with a Henfield independent business.

The ‘Your Customer Experience’ free retail training programme is already well underway and receiving lots of positive feedback from the businesses taking part.

“Horsham District is renowned for its excellent selection of independent shops which are a real draw for shoppers.

“Everyone appreciates a well-dressed shop window or display and at Christmas time these displays are a big part of the overall Christmas shopping experience that makes a visit to our towns and villages so enjoyable.

I hope many businesses will get involved to reap the benefits of the training available and together make all of our towns and villages a real wonderland of shop windows over the festive period.

Horsham District Council Cabinet Member for the Local Economy, Councillor Gordon Lindsay

“Creating a display that attracts customers to stop, look and enter the store is an essential tool in every high street retailer’s armoury. I am pleased to be working with Horsham District Council and their partners to help put the focus on these vital skills at Christmas time.”
