Horsham District Jobs and Skills Fair 2018 – Exhibitors announced

10 Sep 2018

The Horsham District Jobs and Skills Fair, organised by Horsham District Council, returns this year with more exhibitors than ever before, many from new and different sectors.

On 19 September some 40 organisations will be at Horsham’s Drill Hall in Denne Road, Horsham with hundreds of employment, voluntary, training, and apprenticeship opportunities on offer.

The Jobs and Skills Fair will run from 11am to 3pm and is sponsored by the Federation of Small Businesses with support from Horsham Jobcentre Plus, The District Post and Collyer’s College.

Over the past three years the Fair has seen some 130 employers offer nearly 1500 opportunities to job hunters and students and the events have been visited by over 1400 people. Not only that, within weeks of these events, hundreds of people have found a new position or a new career path, as well as receiving plenty of advice about careers and job searching.

Current confirmed employers this year include regulars Assurity Consulting and Metricell LTP, engineering firms Trend Control Systems (part of the Honeywell Group) and Stoba Präzisionstechnik UK Limited, as well as local outlets of national hospitality chains Beefeater and Smith and Western (newcomers this year). There will also be a wide selection of colleges, training organisations and apprenticeship opportunities showcasing their courses and programmes.

One top growth organisation exhibiting for the first time this year is high- tech firm Chess Dynamics.  Chess Dynamics is an established leading design and manufacturing business, with several sites across the UK, servicing the surveillance and defence industries.

Commenting on the event, Cabinet Member for the Local Economy, Cllr Gordon Lindsay said:

“This is a free event for anyone who is job hunting, thinks they want to change their job, start a new career or get some training to do something completely different.

“The Jobs and Skills Fair has a great track record and over the last three years has successfully placed hundreds of local people into local jobs and training schemes. It’s a win, win for our local economy.

“All ages and abilities are welcome, so come along and enjoy the free facilities on offer.”
