Tree and Wood at Leonardslee - a must-see family event for Half Term

25 Oct 2019

Wrap up warm and enjoy the delights of this much awaited sound and light spectacular in the beautiful outdoor surroundings of Leonardslee Lakes and Gardens at night.

On the opening night the audience was welcomed to the venue at dusk and led downwards through beautifully lit forest surroundings to a woodland opening that had been transformed to become the theatrical stage for the night time performance. Then it was time to select your log, sit back and enjoy the show.

The mystery and wonder of trees and our relationship with them through the ages are at the heart of the Tree and Wood story, which was told energetically by music, song, and immersive sound and light technology… but no spoken words.

The sights, sounds and smells of the forest at night all had their part to play, creating something that was intriguing, magical and eerie, all at the same time.

The talented minstrels told the story of trees – their solidity, longevity and endurance through Great Wars and Great Storms.

Wood saws were played with violin bows, xylophones created from logs and played with axes and a selection of drums crafted from wood, of course.

There was a definite cozy campfire feeling to the proceedings which will appeal equally to older children and adults. It certainly puts your average Halloween or fireworks night out in the shade.

Don’t miss this one.
