Horsham District Council’s Neighbourhood Wardens for Billingshurst, Barry Faust and Glyn Thomas, recently attended the Sussex Police and Crime Commission offices in Lewes for an event to celebrate a recent funding initiative for Billingshurst.

The Police and Crime Commission’s Safer in Sussex Fund is available for organisations to bid for ,and Barry and Glyn requested money to fund the Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club’s Albion in the Community Group to run weekly football sessions throughout the summer in Billingshurst.

The football sessions were intended as diversionary activities to combat low level anti-social behaviour in Billingshurst in the school holidays. The sessions were open to both boys and girls.

The wardens were initially awarded £300 to cover the cost of the sessions and have since received a further £700 which will enable the sessions to take place in future school holidays, as well as providing a small budget for sporting equipment as required.

Neighbourhood Wardens Barry and Glyn met the Police and Crime Commissioner, Katy Bourne, at the event and told her more about the sessions which were very popular and well attended by young people in Billingshurst.
