Supporting growth in Horsham District's Visitor Economy

Horsham District is home to a thriving visitor economy, welcoming millions of visitors each year to enjoy its countryside, market towns, villages, attractions, food and drink businesses, events, accommodation providers and outdoor experiences.

To support the continued growth and development of the sector, Horsham District Council has commissioned the Horsham District Accommodation Study 2026, providing a comprehensive and up-to-date assessment of visitor accommodation demand, market trends and future opportunities across the District.

Whether you operate accommodation, hospitality, leisure, attractions, events, retail, food and drink, rural tourism or visitor services, this research provides valuable insight to help inform business planning, investment and product development.

Horsham District Accommodation Study 2026

Published in 2026, this study updates the Council's previous accommodation research undertaken in 2017 and provides a new evidence base for businesses, investors and stakeholders involved in the visitor economy.

The study was commissioned by Horsham District Council in collaboration with Mid Sussex District Council and delivered by tourism specialists Tomorrow's Tourism.

The study examines:

  • Current accommodation supply across the District
  • Visitor demand and market trends
  • Future accommodation needs
  • Investment opportunities
  • Changing visitor expectations
  • Sustainable tourism development
  • Opportunities to increase overnight stays and visitor spend

The research identifies opportunities for businesses to capitalise on growing demand for nature-based tourism, wellness experiences, food and drink tourism, cycling and walking breaks, and unique accommodation offers.
