New drop-in sessions to find out more about key community services

28 Jan 2020

Residents of the Horsham District are invited to the first of a series of new community drop-in sessions offering advice and support on a broad range of community support services in and around the Horsham area.

The first drop-in session will take place at The Capitol theatre in North Street, Horsham on Tuesday 4 February 2020 between 12noon and 2pm.

The sessions will provide an informal and relaxed environment where people can come along and have the chance to talk to professionals from different service areas.

The range of professional service providers available will include:

A nurse advisor from the Prevention Assessment team at West Sussex County Council providing advice on health, wellbeing and maintaining independence.

  • Horsham District Council’s Neighbourhood Wardens for Horsham Town Centre will be present to help with community safety issues or concerns.
  • Citizens Advice representatives will be on hand to inform on a range of topics including seeking advice on benefits, debt, the law and immigration.
  • The Samaritans will be available to talk about their active listening service.

The advice given is free, confidential, and there is no need to make an appointment.   This multi-agency approach is designed to make it easier to access services you may need, or to be directed to agencies you may not have been aware of.

Commenting on this new service Horsham District Council Cabinet Member for Community Matters and Wellbeing said:

“These sessions are a great idea and I am sure they will be a success, and people will welcome the opportunity to discuss any issues or concerns they have in an environment which is comfortable to them.

The sessions will also help us ensure that we are focusing efforts in the right areas that are important to our residents.

“Do come along to this first session and access all the free help and advice that is on offer, then spread the word to others.”
