Car park improvements to go ahead in Henfield

Residents and visitors in Henfield are set to benefit from new investment to improve the library car park in the village.

The proposed improvements will see increased parking bay sizes, an improved parking surface, improved drainage, new low cost LED lighting, enabling works for EV charging points and new landscaping.

Following Horsham District Council’s introduction of an annual parking disc/permit scheme in April 2017, it was agreed that income received via this scheme would be reinvested back into the District’s car parks to improve the overall customer experience.

Commenting on the improvements, Horsham District Council’s Cabinet Member for the Local Economy and Parking Cllr Paul Clarke said:

I am pleased that the improvement works for the car park are now under way which I am sure will create a much better user experience for all.

“This particular car park serves a large majority of the village’s visitors on a daily basis and is often the first place that visitors to the village see, so it important that it provides a good impression.”

In order to reduce any disruption, the car park will be completely closed from 18 January 2021 until approximately 5 March 2021 to allow for more efficient working and thus reduce the overall length of time the car park will be out of action.

Alternative parking can be found in Coopers Way which is located opposite the library car park.

Existing season ticket holders can also park in Coopers Way where their tickets will be valid during the works.

The Council apologises for any inconvenience caused by the works.
