Grant fund to boost energy efficiency for community facilities

29 Apr 2021

Horsham District Council is pleased to confirm that it has successfully been awarded grant funding to fully refurbish two community buildings in Blackbridge Lane, Horsham which will deliver significant energy efficiencies and reduce carbon emissions.

As a result of the funding award, St Peter’s Hall and the Royal Air Forces Association Club (RAFA) on the Needles Estate are set to benefit from the installation of a new air source heat pump heating system, the introduction of solar panels and improved insulation, amongst other improvements.

These environmentally driven proposals meet with the Council’s corporate policies to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2030 and to provide attractive facilities to support the health and wellbeing of our residents.

Additionally, it is proposed to re-model the buildings to create a more modern, flexible and efficient space which can be used by local communities.

The refurbishment will deliver a hall to accommodate approximately 65 people seated, a separate meeting room on the first floor with lift access, new kitchen and toilet facilities, storage areas and a car park.

The refurbishment is set to be completed in September 2021.
