New survey seeks views on loneliness and isolation

28 Jul 2021

The Voluntary Sector Support team for the Horsham District is working with Horsham District Council, West Sussex County Council, Healthwatch West Sussex and a number of local voluntary organisations to learn from local people about the impact of loneliness and isolation on their health by launching a new survey.

The effects of loneliness and isolation at any time and at any age can be devastating, but as a result of the pandemic, the sheer volume of people suffering the emotional and mental health effects of loneliness and isolation has dramatically increased across a broad range of age groups.

Voluntary Sector Support have issued the new survey to help shape community provision and access to services which will  provide better support to residents who are suffering the effects of loneliness and isolation. Findings of the survey will also help facilitate additional funding applications to help more residents of all ages.

Complete the survey online

Alternatively if you would prefer to complete the survey over the phone, please call 0300 012 0122 or email Cheryl.berry@healthwatchwestsussex.co.uk .

Commenting on the survey, Horsham District Council’s Cabinet Member for Community and Wellbeing Cllr Claire Vickers said:

The ongoing health effects of the pandemic have by no means gone away.

I really welcome this crucial work by our teams to better understand the mental health needs of our local community and develop programmes which will support people.

I would encourage as many of you as possible to complete the wellbeing survey and help shape the types of help we will put in place for you."

We are wanting to hear from anyone 18 years and over, especially young families living in the Horsham District.
