Armistice Day in Horsham 2021

In addition to acts of remembrance on Remembrance Sunday this year, the Horsham Branch of the Royal British Legion, in conjunction with Horsham District Council held a short wreath laying ceremony at the War Memorial in the Carfax in Horsham this morning (11 November) for those wishing to remember at the ‘eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month’.

Horsham District Council Chairman Cllr David Skipp led the wreath laying on behalf of the people of Horsham District with wreaths also being laid by Zäl Rustom Chairman of the Horsham Branch of the Royal British Legion and Jeremy Quin MP.

The Rev’d Canon Lisa Barnett addressed the audience and said prayers.

The ceremony was also attended by World War 2 veteran 98 year old Geoffrey Weaving (pictured).

The programme was as follows:

  • 10.45am - Arrival at the War Memorial, Carfax, Horsham
  • 10.59am - The Bugler sounded the Last Post
  • 11am - Two minutes silence
  • 11.02am - The Bugler sounded the Reveille
  • 11.03am - Wreath laying
  • Dedication and blessing
