Horsham Town Neighbourhood Wardens with various partners host community coffee morning

Horsham Town Neighbourhood Wardens, Maria Colenso and Charlie Nell, have been busy working in partnership with other agencies to support local residents in and around Horsham.

A few weeks ago the Wardens partnered with Age UK, Horsham District Council’s Community Link team, Sussex Police and a local social prescriber to run a Community Coffee Morning at Trafalgar Road Baptist Church. The aim of the morning was to allow residents to access a range of local services for information and advice, as well as to enjoy free tea and cake.

The coffee morning was only able to take place when Amish Shingadia, store owner of the Londis Convenience Store in Caterways, Horsham, kindly offered funding from the Coca Cola Foundation Community Support Fund, which can be used to support community causes. The funding paid for the hall hire, refreshments and resources.

More recently, the Wardens took one of their ‘Talking Tents’ stalls to the Cootes Farm Community Summer Fayre in Horsham. Colleagues from Sussex Police, West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service and Sussex Safer Roads joined Maria and Charlie to offer advice and support to anyone visiting the stall.

Maria and Charlie run weekly drop-ins at Horsham Wellbeing Hub, near The Forum in Horsham Town Centre, on Tuesday mornings from 10:00 – 11:30. They can be contacted on Horsham.NeighbourhoodWardens@horsham.gov.uk

Based within the community, Neighbourhood Wardens work alongside partner agencies and undertake a variety of activities including community development and support, high visibility patrols, enforcement, working with the elderly, vulnerable and young people. The Horsham Neighbourhood Warden scheme is funded by the Denne, Trafalgar and Forest Neighbourhood Councils and managed by Horsham District Council.
