As part of Horsham District Council’s Business Training Programme, a brand-new video series is now available to watch on the West Sussex Business Hub, sharing useful top tips on how market traders can make the most of their market stall.
As part of their free “Spring into Markets” online guide, the videos have been launched in association with the National Market Traders Federation (NMTF) – the UK’s only national organisation representing market traders, street traders, events retailers, and mobile caterers.
Local businesses currently trading on Horsham District markets who watch all five videos, will be invited to enter a fantastic prize draw with the chance to win one of ten LED rechargeable lights to use on their market stall and make their products stand out.
Commenting on the new top tips series, Cllr Ruth Fletcher, Horsham District Council Cabinet Member for Local Economy and Place said:
“This is another great addition to the Council’s continuous support for our local markets and businesses. The videos share some useful tips on how market traders can make the most of their stall, which I hope will really benefit local traders and help boost business. I am pleased that we have worked with NMTF to deliver this new series.”
Each video takes just a few minutes to watch and is packed with useful tips about making the most of your market stall and improving business. Topics covered include what to bring, social media for market traders, maximising your stall layout, pricing and signage and taking cashless payments.

The top tips videos are available to watch for free on the West Sussex Business Hub, an online learning platform home to a growing community of local business owners. In addition to the new video series, through the Hub businesses can access an expanding range of support, advice, and opportunities to connect with other local businesses as well as organisations who offer business support.
Once all five top tips videos have been watched, existing Horsham District market traders will be invited to enter a prize draw for the chance to win a LED rechargeable light for their stall which will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. The prize draw closes Saturday 30 September 2023.
