Wardens host free community fun day in Steyning

There was a bouncy castle and an ice cream bike at the fun day

Steyning, Bramber and Upper Beeding Neighbourhood Wardens Alison and Mike ran a fantastic free Community Fun Day on 26 August at Fletcher’s Croft.

A stormy forecast didn’t deter local residents from coming out to enjoy the day. Free sports activities were provided by Horsham Sports Services, with archery and disc golf proving the most popular. There was a bouncy castle and soft play provided by Boogie Bouncers. One of Steyning’s on call fire crew, and Police Community Support Officer Bicknell were available for a meet and greet. Those that wanted to try their hand at being a police officer could sit in the car and test out the sirens. The Dairy Diva braved the weather with her ice-cream trike.

The Neighbourhood Wardens would like to say a big thank you to the Co-op for donating water for the event and to local resident Angie, who donated her time in making delicious cakes and cookies, all of which were free and a big hit.

The purpose of the day was to provide local families with free activities in the summer holidays, be an opportunity to meet neighbours, to introduce the wardens to those not aware of the scheme and to support local businesses.

Alison and Mike carry out regular patrols of the parishes both on foot and in the warden vehicle.
