Pink Van

Horsham District Council is excited to introduce its new all-electric collections vehicle.

Replacing diesel engines with electric power provides a significant reduction in both noise and air pollution and also achieves significant cost reductions.

The new textiles, electricals and coffee pod collection van will deliver significant reductions in carbon emissions in line with the Council’s corporate priorities to tackle climate change, as it aims to be carbon neutral by 2030. It is the latest in our waste collection fleet to switch to fully electric.

The previous collections van ran on Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil (HVO) fuel and cost £2,891 a year to run, whilst the new electric van will cost just £206 a year to run.

Horsham District Council Cabinet Member for Environmental Health, Recycling and Waste Cllr Jay Mercer commented:

“I’m delighted that we have taken delivery of this new van.

“This is a real win-win for the Council. A cleaner vehicle with cheaper running costs on the road, helping residents to recycle more by collecting textiles, electricals and used coffee pods direct from their doors.”
