Hundreds of local people gathered to observe a respectful act of remembrance this year at the War Memorial in Horsham’s Carfax on Remembrance Sunday 9 November.
The Deputy Lord-Lieutenant of West Sussex Shelaugh Legrave CBE led the wreath laying followed by Horsham District Council Chairman Cllr Tony Bevis on behalf of the people of the Horsham District. Wreaths were also laid by John Milne MP, Chairman of the Horsham Branch of the Royal British Legion Zäl Rustom, and Cllr Andrew Baldwin representing West Sussex County Council.

Sequence of events
10.45 Standards, VIPs and Councillors form up in front of War Memorial.
10.54 Sound the Alert. Parade Marshal calls participants to attention.

10.59 Last Post will be played. Standards to the Dip.
11.00 Two-minute silence observed.
11.02 Reveille played. Standards up.

11.17 Reflection and blessing.
11.20 Dismiss and parade to St Mary’s Parish Church for Service of Remembrance.

The Horsham Branch of the Royal British Legion was the lead organiser of the event this year in partnership with Horsham District Council.
In addition to the service on Remembrance Sunday the Council’s Chairman, Cllr Tony Bevis will join members of the Royal British Legion and members of the public including local school children to pay tribute to and remember all those who have lost their lives in conflict on Armistice Day on Tuesday 11 November at 11am. A short service will be held and a two-minute silence will be observed.
