As part of its ongoing commitment to supporting vulnerable residents and those affected by the cost of living crisis, Horsham District Council hosted a Community Support Networking Day at Ashington Community Centre on Wednesday 4 February.
Voluntary and community organisations, together with partners from the statutory sector, are key community partners for the Council. They play a vital role in ensuring that much needed services reach residents of all ages who may be experiencing financial hardship, emotional strain, or health related challenges.
The marketplace style event brought together 40 community organisations to network, share updates, and discuss the changing needs and emerging concerns of residents who are struggling locally.
The event also supported an invited audience of over 70 professionals operating at grassroots level across the Horsham District.
As residents’ needs become increasingly complex, often spanning multiple issues beyond the remit of any single adviser, the event aimed to strengthen connections between practitioners and highlight the breadth of support available across the District.
Horsham District Council Cabinet Member for Housing and Communities Cllr Sam Raby, said: “This event was a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when our community comes together with a shared purpose.
“The organisations represented today are the backbone of local support, and by strengthening these connections we can ensure residents get the right help at the right time.
“I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who took part and for the dedication they show every day in improving the lives of people across our District.”
