Barrington James visit

Horsham District Council’s Enterprising Horsham team, joined by Cabinet Member for Enterprise and Property Cllr Jonathan Taylor, visited Barrington James – a specialist recruitment and headhunting company focused exclusively on the life sciences sector, connecting pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device organisations with highly specialised talent.

Founded in 2002, Barrington James has grown into an international business with more than 10 offices across Europe, North America and Asia, including Singapore and the United States.

The Council team were shown around their global headquarters in Horsham, which represents the largest recruitment sales floor in the South of the UK outside London. They support recruitment across the entire drug development cycle, from research and development through clinical trials and regulatory affairs to commercialisation.

Currently employing 130 staff in Horsham, the company places strong emphasis on behavioural characteristics, talent and potential rather than formal academic qualifications

During the visit, councillors and officers met with members of Barrington James’ senior leadership team to learn more about their business and to discuss opportunities, challenges and potential areas of collaboration with the Council.

Cllr Jonathan Taylor, Horsham District Council Cabinet Member for Enterprise and Property, said: “Barrington James represents a significant inward investment success for Horsham.

The business has strong growth potential with a recruitment model which aligns well with local education providers and young residents. We look forward to continuing engagement with Barrington James going forward.”

Matthew Tucker, Managing Director – Europe of Barrington James said: “Welcoming Horsham District Council to our global headquarters was a great opportunity to showcase the scale of what we’re building here and the role Horsham plays in our growth.

As we continue to expand, our focus is on creating high-quality career opportunities for local talent while supporting some of the world’s most innovative life sciences organisations.

“The partnership with the Council is incredibly important to us, not just in terms of supporting our growth, but in contributing to a thriving local economy and positioning Horsham as a hub for ambitious, high-performing businesses.”

The visit to Barrington James is part of the Council’s engagement programme with businesses within the district that help to create, maintain, and promote a prosperous community and local economy. Keep a look out for news of future visits.
