Following an Annual Meeting of Horsham District Council on 29 April, a new Chairman has been elected.
Cllr Joanne Knowles was elected Chairman of Horsham District Council for the civic year 2026 to 2027 at the Council’s Annual Meeting which was held at Albery House, Horsham.

Cllr Nigel Emery was appointed as the Vice Chairman of the Council (pictured with Cllr Knowles below).
Commenting on her election, Cllr Knowles said:
“I am honoured to be elected as Chairman of Horsham District Council and I look forward to representing the Council across the District, meeting as many residents, community groups and organisations as possible during the year ahead.
"A key focus of my year in office will be supporting young people’s involvement in volunteering. I am keen to help make volunteering more accessible, recognising the important role it plays in strengthening communities, building civic pride and improving wellbeing.
“Encouraging young people to volunteer can help them develop their confidence, gain new skills and improve their future employability.”
