Council visits leading UK plastics manufacturer Pentagon Plastics

Horsham District Council’s Enterprising Horsham team, joined by Cabinet Member for Climate Action and Nature Recovery Cllr Colette Blackburn, visited Pentagon Plastics in Horsham to learn more about the company’s role in manufacturing and its contribution to the local economy.

Founded in 1972, Pentagon Plastics is a family-run business providing a complete turnkey plastic injection moulding service, from design and development through to tooling manufacture, production and post-moulding services.

Employing over 60 staff, the company supplies a range of sectors including medical, aerospace, construction, electronics and security.

During the visit, the Council team were shown around Pentagon Plastics’ premises in Horsham, where tool manufacturing is carried out in-house. This is relatively unique within the UK plastics sector and enables the company to maintain full control over quality, development and production processes.

Meeting with members of the company’s senior leadership team, discussions focussed on the opportunities and challenges facing the business, as well as potential areas for future collaboration with the Council.

Cllr Colette Blackburn, Horsham District Council Cabinet Member for Climate Action and Nature Recovery, said: “It was great to visit Pentagon Plastics and learn more about this well-established manufacturing business with global customers and strong sector diversity.

I look forward to continuing our engagement with this fantastic local company which has demonstrated steady growth and continues to invest in its workforce and environmental credentials.”

Paul Edwards, Managing Director & Business Owner of Pentagon Plastics said: “It was a pleasure to welcome our council visitors on site to showcase our family business and show them round so they could witness the continuous improvement through investment that has been going on.

“We enjoyed a wider discussion regarding the pressures on business and the impact that decisions by central government have on manufacturing whilst gaining knowledge on the changes ahead for local government and some of the initiatives that are to be delivered.”

The visit to Pentagon Plastics is part of the Council’s engagement programme with businesses within the district that help to create, maintain, and promote a prosperous community and local economy. Keep an eye out for news of future visits.
