Hundreds of visitors enjoyed the Billingshurst Community Partnership's annual Open Gardens Day in June, following support from Horsham District Council through its Better Billingshurst Community Grant.
The grant helped the Billingshurst Community Partnership deliver this year's popular event, which welcomed residents and visitors to explore a range of local gardens while bringing the community together.
The Better Billingshurst Community Grant forms part of Horsham District Council's wider Better Billingshurst Programme, a major investment initiative designed to improve facilities and infrastructure for residents and businesses in the parish.
Launched in 2024, the programme will see around £2.5 million invested in community and infrastructure projects across Billingshurst.
More than £13,000 is being allocated through community grants to support local organisations and initiatives that benefit residents.
Applications for the community grant scheme were submitted by a range of local groups and organisations between July and September 2025 and assessed in line with the Council's governance procedures.
Alongside community projects, the Council is developing a number of infrastructure improvements as part of the Better Billingshurst Programme, with further announcements expected in due course.
Horsham District Council Cabinet Member for Planning and Infrastructure Cllr Ruth Fletcher said: "As a council, we are committed to delivering improvements that help create thriving communities and enhance the wellbeing of local residents.
I am delighted that we have supported one of Billingshurst's much-loved community events, enabling more people to enjoy the annual Open Gardens Day.

The improvements are being funded in part through contributions arising from housing development in Billingshurst in recent years.
Horsham District Council has worked closely with Billingshurst Parish Council in developing the Better Billingshurst Programme.
