The Big Nibble

Horsham town centre’s Carfax is set to host a fantastic celebration of Sussex food and drink at the ‘Big Nibble’ on Sunday 6 September 2026 from 10am to 4pm.

Residents and visitors are invited to come along and discover local produce through a vibrant food and drink market together with a live cookery theatre featuring top Sussex chefs, hosted by food guru Hilary Knight.

Organised by Food Rocks and Horsham District Council, the Big Nibble will build on the success of their Sussex Six market in 2025, highlighting the very best of Sussex food and drink. Little Notes’ fruit and veg band will also return to the Carfax bandstand, with interactive musical performances for young children, their families and friends.

This year, the event will expand its celebration of local producers even further, including a special feature of Sussex honey products to mark 100 years of a very famous honey-loving bear.

Cllr Jonathan Taylor, Horsham District Council’s Cabinet Member for Enterprise and Property said: “I am pleased that we are returning with yet another fantastic event to champion some of the delicious food and drink that Sussex has to offer.

Supporting local producers is not only important for boosting our local visitor and rural economies but also contributes towards reducing food miles - the distance food has travelled to get to our plates.

“Make sure you save the date for the Big Nibble festival on Sunday 6 September and join us in celebrating local food and drink.”

The Big Nibble features alongside the Horsham Tap & Vine Takeover Weekend, organised by Firebird Brewery, Your Horsham and Visit Horsham. 17 pubs and venues throughout Horsham will be showcasing local drinks and celebrating the town’s vibrant hospitality scene all weekend.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to keep an eye out for further details on the Big Nibble, as they’re announced, on the Council’s website.

Sussex producers and local food and drink businesses selling Sussex produce are invited to apply for a Big Nibble pitch on the Food Rocks website.
