The Friends of Warnham Local Nature Reserve marked a major milestone at their annual Volunteers' BBQ last week, celebrating more than £250,000 donated to Horsham District Council since 2017 to support the Reserve and its ongoing development.
Council officers attended the event to thank the Friends for their continued dedication and support.
Funds raised by the Friends have helped deliver a range of significant projects at the Reserve, including the Discovery Hub, the Shelley Wildlife Garden, a new tern raft and a recently installed boardwalk. Their contributions also help support the day-to-day management and maintenance of the Reserve, one of the most popular nature reserves in Sussex.
A Horsham District Council spokesperson said: "We are incredibly grateful to the Friends of Warnham Local Nature Reserve for their unwavering support and commitment.
The Friends play a vital role in helping us protect, enhance and develop this special place for wildlife and visitors. Many of the improvements enjoyed by visitors today would not have been possible without their fundraising efforts.
"Reaching the remarkable milestone of £250,000 in donations is a tremendous achievement, and we extend our sincere thanks to everyone involved for their dedication, generosity and hard work over the years."
