Council visits leading air pollution control specialists in Horsham

Horsham District Council’s Enterprising Horsham team, joined by Cabinet Member for Enterprise and Property Cllr Jonathan Taylor, recently visited ERG Group to learn more about the Horsham-based company’s expertise in tackling air pollution, odour, and gas emission challenges.

Founded in 1978, ERG has developed into a leading UK specialist in air pollution control. Formed of five operating companies including ERG Air Pollution Control Ltd, the business works with organisations across pharmaceutical, healthcare, chemicals, mining and minerals, renewable energy, wastewater, and food and beverage sectors to deliver tailored air pollution control and odour treatment systems.

During the visit, the Council team were shown around ERG’s Slinfold facility, where the company employs around 80 staff. ERG designs, manufactures and fabricates its products entirely at its purpose-built site in Horsham, bringing its core production capabilities together in one location. Horsham is the company’s head office, with regional offices supporting customers in the Middle East and internationally.

ERG recently received the King’s Award for Enterprise 2026, recognising its success in international trade and continued growth across global industrial and environmental markets.
During a meeting with members of the business’ management team, discussions focused on the opportunities and challenges facing the business, including skills, recruitment, investment and future growth opportunities across the District.

Horsham District Council Cabinet Member for Enterprise and Property, Cllr Jonathan Taylor, said: “It was a pleasure meeting the senior leadership team at ERG to learn more about this long-established Horsham business that has achieved substantial growth while developing a strong international customer base.

Its decision to consolidate its design and manufacturing operations in Slinfold represents a significant local investment and provides a strong base for further growth.

"There is a clear opportunity for the Council and its partners to support ERG through skills connections, business networks and wider promotion of Horsham District as a strong place for skilled people and businesses to locate.”

Richard Hanson, Managing Director of ERG Group, said: “We were delighted to welcome Cllr Jonathan Taylor and the Enterprising Horsham team to ERG and to give them an insight into the work we do here in Slinfold.

"ERG has been part of the Horsham business community for nearly 50 years, and while our technologies and customers now span the world, our headquarters and core engineering and manufacturing capabilities remain firmly rooted here.

"Receiving the King’s Award for Enterprise this year was a tremendous recognition of what our team has achieved internationally. We are continuing to invest in the business, develop skilled people and grow our capabilities, and we look forward to working with Horsham District Council to help support further growth and opportunities within the local economy.”

The visit to ERG is part of the Council’s engagement programme with businesses within the district that help to create, maintain, and promote a prosperous community and local economy. Keep an eye out for news of future visits.
