A brand-new playground and games area is now open at Highwood in Horsham, giving local children, young people and families more opportunities to play, stay active and enjoy the outdoors.
The Highwood Riverside Play Area and Multi-Use Ball Court form part of a wider programme of community improvements at the Highwood site, which will also include a community hall, two football pitches, changing rooms, public toilets and a small car park.
The play park features a large, landscaped play area with a fort, climbing frame, zipwire, basket swing, giant revolving disk and seating. This play area is suitable for children 11 years and under. The Highwood Ball Court is available for everyone to use.
Horsham District Cabinet Member for Planning and Infrastructure, Cllr Ruth Fletcher, said: "In our Annual Plan for 2026/27, we committed to building thriving local communities where people can flourish and enjoy active, healthy lifestyles.
Creating safe, welcoming spaces for children and families is an important part of that commitment, and these new facilities at Highwood are a great example of that in action.
"It’s great that residents can now enjoy the new games area and playground, which will help encourage outdoor activity, support wellbeing and make even greater use of this valued community space."
The Highwood community facilities are being delivered through Section 106 funding provided by developer Berkeley Homes.
