Winter Warm Ups Fringe

Residents are invited to take part in this year's Winter Warm Ups, a popular programme of events designed to help people stay active, socially connected and well prepared for the colder months ahead.

Organised to support the wellbeing of older residents across the Horsham District, the 2026 Winter Warm Up season will feature two dedicated event days for those aged 50 and over, as well as an exciting new programme of fringe activities throughout the month of October.

As we get older, it can take more effort to get out, stay active and maintain social connections during the colder, darker months. Winter Warm Up events are designed to provide a welcoming and friendly environment where people can meet others, discover new interests and access valuable health and wellbeing support.

The main Winter Warm Up event days will take place on:

  • Wednesday 14 October 2026 at The Bridge Leisure Centre, Broadbridge Heath
  • Thursday 15 October 2026 at Chanctonbury Leisure Centre, Storrington.

Visitors can enjoy a wide range of free activities, information and support services, including sport taster sessions, hearing tests, vaccinations and health MOTs, electric blanket testing, arts and crafts workshops, health and wellbeing drop-in sessions and a large marketplace showcasing local groups, organisations and support services.

Everyone will also be offered a free bowl of hot soup and a roll.

New for 2026 is the Winter Warm Ups Fringe Programme. The Programme will shine a spotlight on the fantastic range of activities and opportunities already taking place across the District through local clubs, community groups and organisations.

The Fringe Programme is an opportunity for residents to find activities closer to home that help them stay active, build confidence and make new social connections throughout the winter months and beyond.

Horsham District Council Cabinet Member for Housing and Communities, Councillor Belinda Walters said: "Winter can be a challenging time for many people, particularly as the days become shorter and the weather becomes colder.

Our Winter Warm Up events offer a fantastic opportunity for residents aged 50 and over to come together, try something new, access helpful advice and services, and connect with others in their community.

"Whether you're interested in improving your health, meeting new people or simply finding out what's available locally, there's something for everyone.

"We look forward to welcoming residents to this year's events."

The Winter Warm Ups are free to attend and open to all residents aged 50 and over. Further details about the event days and Winter Warm Up Fringe activities can be found on the Council website.
