South Holmes Open Space
South Holmes / Owlbeech Open Space Consultation
In 2026, as part of the Council's Play Strategy, we will be working to improve the play area and wider park at South Holmes Open Space.
The first stage of this work was our public consultation which ran throughout October / November 2025.
We received 80 responses and would like to thank all those who took part either by completing the on-line survey or attending our on-site drop in session during half term.
Overall there was strong support for renewing the play area and developing the woodland theming.
The recurring themes for the play area included;
- The current pendulum swing and zip wire are particularly popular and should be incorporated in future designs
- The play areas needs to continue to provide a good range of equipment for all ages and stages of development
The recuring suggestions for the wider open space included;
- Creating an obstacle course / high climbing for older children outside the fenced play area
- Siting an outdoor gym outside of the play area
- Providing more picnic benches / seating outside of the play area
- Introducing a coffee van
- Providing more dog waste bins
The team will now be developing plans for the area based on some of these ideas and we look forward to sharing them in early 2026.
